Question
Hello Im having problems solving these two problem, I do not know how to start these to question,
In the electromagnetics lab, you charge up a tiny pith ball and stick it on a needle that stands 5.0 cm above the table top. You then take a square, thin plastic sheet and hold it so that one of its edges lies along the table and its center is 5.0 cm away from the pith ball. The sheet has an area of 100.0 cm^2. You measured the charge on the pith ball to be about -37.0 nC. What is the electric flux through the plastic sheet?
And
You have a thin ring of radius 10 mm. The charge carried by the ring is distributed according to the function 0cos2(), where 0 = 16 C/mm. What is the total electric flux emerging from the ring?
Thank you so much for your help
Explanation / Answer
imagine a cube of side 10 cm with the pith ball at the center
total flux through 6 faces = Qin/eo
flux through 1 face = Qin/6eo = -37*10^-9/(6*8.85*10^-12) = -696.8 Nm^2/C
