Question

explain

In drilling a well, ten thousand feet (10,000 ft) of 19.5 lbm/ft drillpipe and 600 ft of 147 lbm/ft drill collars are suspended oft bottom in a 15 s lbm/gal mud. The average density of carbon steel is assumed to be 490 lb/ft^3 {65.5 lbm/gal). The drillpipe lias an internal diameter of 4.206 m and an external diameter of 5.0 in. The drill collar has an internal diameter of 3.0 in and an external diameter of 8.0 in. Calculate the effective hook load that must be supported by the derrick Prepare a graph of axial tension versus depth for the drillstring Buoyed weight pressure calculation

Explanation / Answer

W = 19.5 * 10000 + 147 * 600 = 283200 lbm

We = W(1 - rf/rs) = 283200 * (1 - 15/65.5) = 218300 lbm

(density of steel = 65.5 lbm/gal = 490lbm/cu ft)

for the rest part i am not sure that is why i did not do
