Question 25 of 28 Map sapling learning An object, which is initially at rest on a frictionless horizontal surface, is acted upon by four constant forces. F1 is 18.1 N acting due East, F2 is 37.0 N acting due North, F3 is 39.2 N acting due West, and F4 is 17.4 N acting due South. How much total work is done on the object in 3.33 seconds, if it has a mass of 16.0 kg? Number Units Which type of energy is changing for the object while the above work is being done? O kinetic energy O elastic potential energy O internal energy O gravitational potential energy How fast does the object end up moving at the end of the 3.33 seconds? Explanation / Answer

F1 = 18.1 i^ N
F2 = 37.0 j^ N
F3 = - 39.2 i^ N
F4 = - 17.4 j^ N

Net Force = sqrt((F1+F3)^2 + (F2+F4)^2)
Net Force = sqrt((18.1 - 39.2)^2 + (37 - 17.4)^2)
Net Force = 28.8 N

Force = m*a
a = 28.8/16
a = 1.8 m/s^2

Displacement s = 0.5*a*t^2
s = 0.5*1.8*3.3^2 m
s = 9.8 m

Total work done = Force * Displacement
Total work done = 28.8 * 9.8 J
Total work done = 282.2 J

As the velocity is increasing, Kinetic Energy is changing.

V = u + a*t
V = 0 + 1.8 * 3.3
V = 5.94 m/s
Speed of object at end of 3.3 s, V = 5.94 m/s
