Question
The sun is 1.4*109 meters in diameter and 1.5*1011 meters away from Earth, thus you don't have any trouble discerning its circular shape. If you were standing on Pluto, however, the sun would certainly look very different. Pluto is about 40 times as far from the sun as the Earth is. Could you still image the sun on your retina (image 2 microns), or would it just be twinkling bright, like a shapelessness of a far away star?
Pick one: could imagine it, marginal, couldn't imagine it. Please show calculations for this conclusion
Explanation / Answer
checking the intensities reaching on bothearth and pluto
Use inverse square law.
Since Pluto is 40 times farther from the sun than Earth you do:
40^ 2=1600
I = Powr/.area
Ip/Ie = re^2/rp^2
Intensity on pluto = 1/1600 times of Intensity of Earth
so it wil,be like a like a shapelessness of a far away star
marginal
