Question

An Astronaut (in a REALLY well climate-controlled space suit) experiences gravitational fields of different strengths in the following locations. Rank the locations in order of increasing gravitational field strength from lowest to highest. 1)at the center of the Sun 2)on the surface of the Earth 3)in orbit 500 miles above the Earth's surface 4)on the surface of the moon 5)at the bottom of a 300 mile deep mine on the Moon
Explain the reasoning you used to answering the question above. Explanation / Answer

at the center the gravity is 0 so gravitational field dtrength = 0

at the surface of earth the gravity is 9.8

500 miles above the earth the graviity will be smaller then 9.8 m/s^2 as gravity is inversely proportional to square of distance

at surface of moon gravilt will be lessed than earth as its mass is mush lesser than earth and gravity is directly proportional to mass

at bottom 300 mile gravity will be greater than the surcace of moon as the distance is less

so the ranking is

1) < 4) < 5) < 3) < 2)
