Question

1.                In the classroom you analyzed the light from a computer screen with a polarizer filter. When the polarizer is rotated the fraction of transmitted light varies, and reaches a value close to zero for some orientations. These observations reveal the light from the screen is polarized. Explain how the light from the screen is emitted, and why it is polarized.

2.                When a plastic ruler or protractor is placed in front of the computer screen and, observed through a polarizer, a spectrum of colors is observed on different portions of the protractor. Explain how those colors are produced.

I am confused with these questions. Please help by explaing as well as you can. Thank you.

Explanation / Answer

1. Yes it is. the screen works with polarizer inside.
