Question
Suppose there are three hospitals in your town. You work for Community Hospital, and within a 25 mile radius there are also Middle Hospital and University Hospital. You are serving on a Quality Task Force at your hospital and the task force is comparing death rates for all three hospitals. The task force finds that Community Hospital has the highest death rate and some of the members are alarmed. address the following: does the higher death rate at Community Hospital mean that there is lower quality care? What would you bring up in this discussion at the task force meeting? should have at least 2–3 peer-reviewed
Explanation / Answer
Above situation explained in paragraph clears the picture about increased death rate at community hospitals compare to other two hospitals in town.
This situation clearly points out towards poor and low quality of health care this community hospital is in operation. Which is the root cause of such large number of deaths.
Additionally high mortality rate at hospitals may also cause the increase in death at the hospitals.
To minimize the death results we will conduct the internal task force meeting and will evaluate the number of factors causing such situation and would try to avoid these as maximum as possible.
1. To reduce the death rate we could plan the quality audits for all the facilities available.
2. As mortality ratio was observed high we will hire some personel to reduce the work pressure so that doctors and nurses could concentrate just only Heath care service and to save the ptients from death.
