Question

A) which one of the Graphs shown in the figure most accurately describes the magnitude B of the magnetic field produced by this current as a function of the distance r from the central axis? Explain your reasoning.
B) two students make the following statements:
Pat: "if the loop is pulled through faster than above the piece will be taller but narrower and have the same shape. The peaks are narrower because there is a change in the total flux is smaller one the loop is pulled faster."
Kody: "student A is wrong about the peaks if the loop is pulled faster. The change in the total flux is the same regardless if we pull it fast or slow. Thus the shape, height, and width of the peak are the same regardless of how fast it is pulled"
Is Pat correct Cody correct or need to correct? explain your reasoning.

Explanation / Answer

5.

Before entering the field, there is not current as there is no change in flux.

Suddenly, upon entering the field, there is a constant current, due to constant rate of change in flux. The current is counterlclockwise.

Then once immersed in the field, the current becomes 0 again, as there is no change in flux.

Upon exiting the field, there is a constant current, due to constant rate of change in flux, but in the opposite direction (clockwise).

This falls under OPTION C. [ANSWER, graph of the current]
