Question

Controlling a disease for which humans are the reservoir is considered easier than controlling a
disease for which other animals are the reservoir. What are the factors necessary before a
disease in which humans are the reservoir can be eradicated? How would agent characteristics
such as infectiousness, pathogenicity, and virulence affect the probability of achieving
eradication? Is it possible to eradicate a disease for which humans are not the reservoir? Has it
been achieved at a local/national/international level?

Explanation / Answer

1. Three. Factors are necessary they are

A. Effective intervention to transmission:

Because in theory it is easy to eradicate but coming to pratical it will be very difficult so a effctive tool is necessary to eradicate.

B. Economic considerations:

Costand benfit of the eridaction process.. wether using the resources for alternative erdication process is better than using for a particular condition all need to considered because the economic resources are limited because there are many conditions which are needed to be addressed.

C. Social and political criteria:

It is very important because the level of commitment at the social and political level determines how much the people are effecting with the condition and how willing there are to participate and eradicate the condition.

application of hygiene, sanitation, control environmental modifications, vecator control, vaccines for a particular conditions have shown interuption of transmission of a disease.

2. In eradication of a disease the virulence and pathogencityof the infectious is agent are very important.beacuse we need to consider all these things to eradicate other it will not completely erdicated .virulence is the how much the organism can divide in the host to show the disease condition. So by considering these factors we can plan how accordingly we can eradicate.

3. It is impossible to eradicate disease in which humans are not reserviour because it took several years to erdicate a disesase in human reserviour and even if possible it is of less significant than erdicateing the Hun reservoiur disease.

4. Diseases like smallpox , polio eradicated world wide.

Some areas successfully eradicated malaria etc.
