In a perfectly tied and unbroken bag, should we see evidence of sugar molecules passing through membrane"? Qualify your answer in terms of how selective permeability operates From your graph of the influence of temperature on the rate of osmosis, what can you conclude about int How are temnerature and molecular motion relat 2.Explanation / Answer
perfectly tied bag or unbroken bag doesnt mean that it will stop diffusion or osmosis. as we know movement of particles from the region of high concentration to the region of low concentration through semipermiable membrane is diffusion but when it comes to solvent (usually wateer) it is called as osmosis. since particles are very small, it can pass through membrane.
a semi permeable membrane is a synthetic material with small pores in it which allow selective particles to pass through it under certain conditions.
biological membrane is made up of two layer of phopholipids sheets. the small particles such as water and other small molecule can pass through it easily. but in case of some large molecules and ions there are transport protien on membrane of cells. the genetic of cell decide which molecule to allow or not.
