Question

The reaction given below conserves both electric charge and atomic mass number (true, false)^1_1H +^7_3 LI implies^7_4Be +^1_0n The atomic number, Z, and the mass number A, for the element X is Z = 54, A = 144 Z = 54, A = 142 Z = 55, A = 144 Z = 55, A = 142^233_92U +^1_0n implies^90_38 Sr + X + 2^1_0n a photon of ultraviolet radiation has more energy than or a photon of yellow light (true, false) The cutoff frequency of a material is f_0. Electrons are emitted from the material when light of frequency greater than f_0 is incident on the material? Less than f_0 is incident on the material? A Soap bubble (n = 1.33) having a wall thickness of 120 nm is floating in air. The wavelength of the visible light that is most strongly reflected is 638.4nm 319.2 nm 480 nm 240 nm A small airplane with a wingspan of 12 m flies horizontally and due north at a speed of 60.0 m/s in a region where the magnetic field of Earth is 60.0 m T directed 60.0 below the horizontal. What is the magnitude of the induced emf between the tips of the airplane's wings? 37 mV 31 mV 22mV 44 mV 22 mV A bar magnet is held above the center of a wire loop lying in the horizontal plane. The south end of the magnet is toward the loop. After the magnet is dropped, what is true of the current in the resistor as viewed from above? It is clockwise as the magnet falls toward the loop. It is counterclockwise as the magnet falls toward the loop. It is clockwise after the magnet has moved through the loop and moves away from it. It is always clockwise. A generator contains a 100-turn coil that rotates 10.0 times per second. If each turn has an area of 1000 cm^2 and the magnetic field through the coils is 0.050 0 T, what is the maximum emf induced in the coil? 31.4 V 62.8 V 0.314 V 6.28 V 31400 V

Explanation / Answer

Magnetic field lines are towards S pole. So lines are outward through the horizontal loop.As magnet is moving closer to the loop, flux through the loop increases, Hence by Lenz's law induced current is clockwise (to create inward flux). Hence option (a) ic correct. After the bar magnet passed through the loop, magnetic flux is still outward but is decreasng. Hence by Lenz's law current is counter clockwise. Hence only option (a) is correct.
