Explanation / Answer

purpose - 1. Iodine Test - the purpose of iodine test is to check the presence of starch. when triiodide anion was added to starch it turns into intense blue-black color because at that time intermolecular charge-transfer complex was formed.

Hypothesis- a solution of potassium iodide and iodine in water give a light orange-brown color. if this one is added to the starch gives a deep blue color. to check the hypothesis the photosynthesis is only performed by green leaves when carbon dioxide is available

Procedure - iodine test for liquid sample

1. first we have to take 10 cm3 liquid food sample in a dry and clean test tube

2 . after that we have to add 5 drops of iodine solution

3. then we have to note the color change

Procedure - for solid sample

1. first we have to peel off the thin layer of any vegetable like potato

2. then we have to add few drops of iodine solution on the solid food

3. after that we have to absorb the changes

Observation and Result - 1. if there is no change in color that means starch is not present and it remains brown

2. and if a blue-black color develops it means the starch is present
