Question
In recent years, British farmers have been annoyed by the appearance of apparently mysterious "crop circles" in the middles of their fields. These crop circles are created from plants flattened into a variety of patterns, mostly circular. The origins of these circles was a mystery for quite a long time.
Before the creation of crop circles was exposed as a human-perpetrated hoax, there were quite a few proposed explanations for them. One of these was that the circles were created by evil spirits, for whatever purposes (who knows why an evil spirit would do anything).
Consider this evil spirits proposal. Is this a reasonable scientific hypothesis to explain the origins of these crop circles? Explain your answer in view of what you've learned about the nature and limitations of science. Be as specific as you can.
Explanation / Answer
No, I do not think that crop circle phenomenon is caused by any evil spirits. Being a science student, I do not believe in any evil spirits. There could be many reasons for occuring of this phenomenon such as natural phenomenon like ball lightening, tornadoes. Other possible reason could be due to some kind of cyclonic wind action. The other reason could be vortex movement of air.
But the limitation is that, all the above theories for causing crop circle could not be proved yet. Hence, it is very important to prove such theories as soon as possible in order to know the correct reason for occurrence of this phenomenon.
