Question

What are Newtons 3 laws of motion? What is net force? What are balanced forces? Give an example. How do they effect the motion of an object? What are unbalanced forces? Give an example. How do they effect the motion of an object What is a force diagram (a.k.a free body diagram FBD)? Draw one for the following setup for object A and B: Draw one for the following setup where object A is just landing on object B. (So draw the force diagram right as the person lands on the platform B.) Draw a free body diagram for a skydiver (jumping from a tall building): right as they exit the building. after they have been falling but not reached terminal velocity. after they have reached terminal velocity. Which diagrams have balanccd/unbalanced forces, explain. Suppose you are standing on a very smooth surface, like a sheet of ice or a floor that is soapy If you gave 2 objects that differed in mass (like a small child and an elephant) the same push, how would they move? What law tells you how they should move? How would you move in either case? If an object travels at constant speed does it have an acceleration? Explain.

Explanation / Answer

19. Nweton's laws of motion

first law .Every body continues its state of rest or motion , until an external force acts on it, means if the body is moving with constant velocity it will continue
its motion or if the body is at rest it will continue its state of rest untill a force is acted on it.

second law: Body will gets accelerated if a force acts on it. force is equal to the product of mass and acceleration. F = m*a
Third law : For every force and action there is equal and opposite reaction.

20. Net force

net force is the resultant force of many forces acting on a body. F net = F1+F2+F3+........

21. Balanced forces: if a body is acted by forces which are said to be balanced force, then the net force acting on it is zero, leads to continue its state, either rest of in motion in the applied direction.

22. Unbalanced forces: if unblanced force acting on a body , so that the net force acting on it is not equal means it cam move in the directionn of the resultant force direction, not in applied force direction.

23. FBD represents the vector diagram of all the force componets acting on a body, decribes the resultant force and the motion of the body.

FBD for A is normal force = gravitational force , and the tension in the blockis in +ve x direction.

B the gravitional force is downward and the tension in the string is upward.

       i.e T = m(a+g)
