I'm having trouble answering the 4.1 quations using the data I got. The lab was over dropping a knife in penut butter, and measureing the stopping acceleration, and impact velocity.

Explanation / Answer

1)

in the case of free falling, the velocity of the object increases by 9.9 m/s per each second. in the case of stopping object, the velocity of the object is decreasing 14.63 m/s per each second. Thus, the magnitude of acceleration of stopping object is exceeded the acceleration due to gravity.

2)

the stoping time 0.1 may possible. if the retarding force is very strong, then this retarding force brings the object to rest in small time intervals like 0.1 s.
