High School Physics homework. Just zoom in to see it.
An object moves according to the graph to the right. What is the displacement from the 2 to 4 second points? 3 m 6 m 18 m 24 m 48 m How far does it move during the 4 to 7 second points? 0 m 18 m 24 m 36 m 84 m What direction is it going from the 7 to 8 second points? Positive Direction Negative Direction Stopped Cannot tell from the graph Which sentence accurately describes the motion of the object from the 7 to 8 second points? The object is moving with a constant, non-zero acceleration The object is moving with a uniformly decreasing acceleration The object is moving with a uniformly increasing velocity The object is moving at a constant velocity in the negative direction The object is not moving at allExplanation / Answer
a)
acceleration for 2 to 4 sec
a = dv/dt = (12 - 0)/4 = 3 m/s^2
now using equation
v^2 = u^2 + 2*s*d
d = ((12)^2 - (6)^2)/(2*3) = 18 m
b)
for 4 to 7 sec velocity is constant and v = 12 m/s
so distance = 12*(7-4) = 36 m
c)
for 7 to 8 sec
velocity is decreasing but we cant tell the direction.
d)
for 7 to 8 sec
velocity is decreasing means acceleration is constant but value of acceleration is negative.
so [A] should be currect
