Difference between yeasts and molds:-
The other example of fungi are mushrooms.
2. In the structure of fungi, there are filaments called hyphae. There are one or more cells in each hypha surrounded by a tubular cell wall. Hypha is divided into cell in most of the Fungi with the help of septa I.e internal walls.
Fungi reproduce asexually by budding, fragmentation or by producing spores. Spores are unit of asexual reproduction. Spores may adapted for survival for extended period of time in adverse condition. Spores are non motile in nature. Example of asexual spores are conidia and sporangiospores.
3. Fungal dimorphism is defined when Fungi exists in yeast or in mold form depending upon the conditions of the fungus. Dimorphic Fungi exists in single cells.
Members of some major division where fungal dimorphism occurs : Zygomycota, mitosporic Fungi etc.
4. As Fungi lives in air, soil, plants etc. Some Fungi also lives in the human body that's why some fungal infections starts with lungs or somewhere on the skin. If any person have a weak immune system, then that person will more likely to get infected.
