Questions about DC circuit
If you had a circuit with a capacitor and resistor, how could you make the charging/discharging time shorter by adding a resistor?
If you had a circuit with a capacitor and resistor, how could you make the charging/discharging time longer by adding a resistor?
The voltage meter has some resistance and as such will always allow some current to flow.
How would it affect your data if the resistance used in the circuit were near to the resistance in the voltmeter (i.e. voltage sensor)?
If you had a current sensor (ammeter) instead of a voltmeter, how could we get the same data without using a voltmeter? Be specific! Do you think it would be easier or more complicated? Would it be more or less accurate?
Explanation / Answer
1.
T = time constant = RC
by adding resistors in parallel , we can decrease the total resistance and hence the time constant. smaller the time constant smaller is the charging/discharging time
2..
T = time constant = RC
by adding resistors in series , we can increase the increase the total resistance and hence the time constant. greater the time constant greater is the charging/discharging time
