PLEASE answer ALL parts of questions 6,7,8 & 9 THANK YOU SOOO MUCH!! (This is for my pathophysiology course)
6. A) Differentiate between hyperplasia and hypertrophy by describing what is happening at the cellular level in each B) Give an example for each of these that is part of a normal cellular adaptive response and describe how it serves as a normal adaptive response. 7. A) What is a fatty change? B) Describe the process behind one cause of fatty change C) Name two organs most affected by fatty change and explain why these organs are affected more by fatty change than other organs. 8. Differentiate between benign and malignant neoplasms by comparing and contrasting at least three different characteristics 9. A) Differentiate (at the cellular level) between metaplasia and dysplasia. Be sure to define and give an example of each as part of your answer. B) Define Reserve CapacityExplanation / Answer
6. A) Hyperplasia:
-An increase in the number of cells often in response to chronic irritation or abrasion.
-May return to normal if the insult subsidesnor may be persist following removal of the irritant.
Hyperplasia:
- an increase in size of cells
-they should not return to normal.
B) Hypertrophy seen in cardiac muscles with increased demands and also in athletes with skeletal muscles
Hyperplasia seen in nephons after nephrectomy, hyperplasia of breast gland during lactation.
7. Fatty changes seen in various organs.
fatty degenaration is abnormal appearance of fat within parenchymal cells
when vesicles are large enough to distort nucleus the condition known as macrovesicular steatosis otherwise called as microvesicular steatosis.
Liver is most affected organ also include kidneys, heart, muscles
also in heart, in coronary heart disease is heart disease condition in which cholesterol, calcium, other fats accumulates in the arteries that supply blood to heart.
8. Benign vs malignant
Benign:
-resembles to normal structure
-slow growth rate
-few mitoses
-usually expansive growth
-no metastasis
Malignant:
-Abnormal,less similarity to normal cells
-rapid growth rate
-relatively common mitoses
-invasive growth
-frequent metastasis
9. Metaplasia:
-change of one type of epithelial or mesenchymal cell to another type of adult epithelial or mesenchymal cell
-most commonly affect bronchial mucosa, uterine endocervix, cartilage etc
-mature cellular development
Dysplasia:
-disorderd celluplar development may be accompined with hyperplasia or metaplasia
-uterine cervix and bronchial mucosa mainly affected
-disorderd cellular development
