This lab will deal with Faraday's Law of Induction and the effect of a changing magnetic flux in a coil of wire. Magnetic flux, is defined as the amount of magnetic field that "goes through" a certain area. This depends on a two things: the strength of the magnetic field and the effective area in question. Magnetic flux, phi_B, is defined as the product of the perpendicular field and the area of our loop of interest phi_B = AB cos theta The cos theta term is what determines the amount of field that passes perpendiculardy through the area A if the loop is tilted an angle theta from the field. This relationship is shown in the figure below. What is die magnetic flux if a field of magnitude 0.75 T passes through a square loop of wire that is 12 cm long on each side if the field is oriented at an angle of 30 degrees with respect to the normal (30 degrees with respect to the axis of the loop, so theta = 30)?Explanation / Answer
