Question

Jane Doe turned 40 and found out that she is loosing accommodation property of her eye. Her optometrist suggested, after examination, that she needs corrective eye glasses of power 1.1 diopters. Assuming that the desired lens is to allow her to view the object at 25cm, her near point is? please show work it would be helpful Jane Doe turned 40 and found out that she is loosing accommodation property of her eye. Explanation / Answer

Basically Jane doe have problem with seeing nearby objects .

We can say that she is suffering from far slightness.

Power of lens given to her = 1.1 diopter

Focal length of the lens = 1/power = 0.909 m = 91 cm

object distance = 25 cm If if we pit it with proper sign

u. = -25 cm

focal length = f = +91 cm

Now using llens formula

1/v - 1/u = 1/f

We get v = -34.47 cm

Hence near point of her = 34.47 cm
