In the process of Transuction a donor cell transfer its genetic material DNA(Deoxy Ribo Nucleic Acid) to the recipient cell genome by homologus recombination.

The homologus transfer between two or more genes into the recepient genome is termed as Co-transduction. The frequency with which this transfer of gene happens is called Co-transduction frequency. Cotransduction frequency depends on the proximity the genes are located to the donor chromosome. The gene order is determined based on the frequency of cotransduction which plays a vital role in evolution.

The closer the two genes are greater will be the cotransduction frequency. So the cotransduction frequency is inversely proportional to the distance of the two genes.

Cotransduction frequency CF   =  number with both the traits / total number with the first triat

0.42 = 50 +21 / total number with the first trait

42/100   = 71 / total number with the first trait

total number with the first trait =  71 x 100/42   =  7100 /42

= 1690.48

hence if the met+ trait totals to 1690.48 the cotransduction frquency will 0.42. So the given cotransduction frequency will be true.
