Question
I already got the answer correct as TTFFT but can you please explain why for all of them, especially C because I'm not sure which part of this loop it is asking about induced curret, if its to the left of ABCD then the B field increases and the current would go counter-clockwise to try and even it out but the answer is clockwise so does that mean it is asking about the induced current in ABCD so B field decreases? Thanks
4.[1pt] Answer the following questions with regard to the diagram above. If the first is T and the rest F, enter TFFFF. A) As the rod AB moves to the right, the magnitude of the flux through the surface ABCD decreases B) The agent moving the rod to the right is doing positive work on the rod C) The induced current flows counter-clockwise D) In the absence of friction between rod and rail, the rod will continue to move towards the right indefinitely even if no external force is applied to keep it in motion E) The magnetic field due to the INDUCED current points within the loop ABCD into the plane of the paperExplanation / Answer
part A
flux = B * area so
off course flux will decrease because an area of loop ABCD is decreasing .
part B
correct it force and displacement are insame direction then work doen will be positive ,
Part C
becuse left part is not complert loop so current will flow only in ABCD only so forget about left part okay
because filed inside the page and rod moving in right dircetion then emf induce in rod
and positve charge will accumatle on A and negetive chage will accumulet at B so current will be clockiwse
Part D
because ther will be current in the rod so ther will be force on the rod
F = i*L*B which will be left direction so rod finally stops .
Part E
because induced current in clock wise so by right hand rule field genrated by this will be inside the page
*****Think about lenz's law in this case it will be more wasy by that approch ***** all questions
