Need help with this physics problem. Answer is included, just need it worked out. Thanks!
A 0.40m by 0.15m rectangular loop of wire of resistance, R, is being pulled into a region of uniform magnetic field B that is directed into the plane of the paper. An external force F_ext = 0.30 N must be applied to the loop to maintain a constant speed of 8.0 m/s. The current induced in the loop is 0.50 A. Ignore the weight of the loop. What is the magnitude of the magnetic field B? Ans. 4.0T What is the magnitude of the emf induced in the loop? Ans. 4.8 V What is the resistance of the loop? Ans. 9.60 ohmExplanation / Answer
given:
length L=0.15m
F=0.30 N
v = 8m/s
I = 0.50 A
A) magnitude of the magnetic field
F=BIL
0.3=B*0.5*0.15
B=4 T
B)what is the magnitude of the emf induced in the loop
V=vBL
V=8*4*0.15 =4.8 V
C)what is the resistance of the loop
I=V/R
R=V/I=4.8/0.5=9.6 ohm
