Question

Round all answers to three sig figs...

Part A: You can see that Frank is getting dragged behind Max, and this means that Max has to pull with a force of 2.90 × 102 N.

How much power (P1) does Max have to supply in order to pull Frank at a speed of 0.450 m/s?

Part B: If Max's body has to generate 163 W of power internally in order to produce the amount of power that you just calcluated in Part A, how efficient (?) is Max's body?

Part A is correct in the picture; however, I cannot get part B correct. How to a calculate the efficiency?

Explanation / Answer

F = 2.9*10^2 N
V = 0.450 m/s
P = FV = 2.9*10^2*0.450 = 130.5 W

B. Power generated, P' = 163 W
Efficiency = p/p' = 130.5/163 = 80.061 p.c.
