55- In gram negative cell wall the outer membrane is made up of lipopolysaccharides . This LPS (lipopolysaccharides) part is toxic . It is a kind of endotoxin .

56-Eukaryotic cell differs from prokaryotic (bacterial cell ) in having membrane bound organelles and double layered nuclear membrane which is absent in prokaryotes . And cell membrane of eukaryotes is also different in composition ,it contains steroids in eukaryotes which are usually absent in bacteria.

57. Glycocalyx (capsule) is made up of long chain of polysaccharides . These polysaccharides are thus known capsular polysaccharides(CPL).

They are firmly attached to the plasma membrane.

Function- capsule provides protection against phagocytosis to bacteria . It also prevents bacteria from dessication as it also contains water.
