Two students are having a discussion about the circuit shown below.

Student 1: Current comes out of the positive terminal of the battery, then goes through bulbs B and C where part of it is used up and the remaining current goes through bulb A and back into the battery. So B and C are equally bright but brighter than bulb A.

Student 2: All the current that comes out of the battery must go back into the battery. So the same current flows through all the bulbs and they are equally bright.

Which student do you agree with and why? If you do not agree with either of them clearly state why. Be sure to discuss all parts of the statement made by both students.

I agree with Student 1.

As in circuit bulbs B and C are in parallel and their resultant is in series with bulb A.So the resistance across bulbs B and C combinely will be less and there will be less potential drop.Hence bulbs B and C will be equally bright and more brighter than bulb A.
