Many scientists suggest that the burning of fossil fuels has led to a greenhouse effect which is an increase in the CO2 content of the atmosphere. Given this increase in atmospheric CO2, would this have a greater effect on C4 plants or C3 plants? Why?

Biologically, C3 plants are capable of consuming atmospheric gaseous carbon dioxide during the day as well as during the night. However, the C4 plants alter their metabolic pathways significantly depending upon the abiotic conditions. The C3 plants can consume the excess of CO2 present in the air in the present of high moisure, thereby cleansing it. Thus, the C4 plants will be more affected.
