Question
write a paragraph of at least 200 words (double spaced, with 12-pt Times New Roman or similar font) about the article. These paragraphs should summarize the work presented in the paper andd should be in the style of a scientific abstract. An abstract is a 1-paragraph summary or synopsis of the main points of an article. Abstracts typically begirn with a statement about the problem the research addresses and then include brief descriptions of the methods used, the results/findings, and the main conclusions. Abstracts are usually between 100-500 words and are typically less than 1 page in length. The minimum length for the summaries in this course is 200 words, and the length should not exceed 1.5 pages (double spaced). In addition to summarizing the research, I would like you to add 1-3 sentences in which you evaluate the research. These evaluations may include statements about any flaws you noticed in the research, additional experiments that could or should be performed, or your own insights into the broader impacts of the research The article selected is: "Mycobacterium tuberculosis Hip1 Modulates Macrophage Responses through Proteolysis of GroEL2" Naffin-Olivos JL, Georgieva M, Goldfarb N, Madan- Lala R, Dong L, Bizzell E, et al. (2014) Mycobacterium tuberculosis Hipl Modulates Macrophage Responses through Proteolysis of GroEL2. PLoS Pathog 10(5) e1004132Explanation / Answer
I have written the abstract for the given article below.
Mycobacterium tuberculosis after its entry into the host faces many adverse conditions and therefore to adapt in the host environment , it has adopted various mechanisms. One of them is the proteolytic cleavage of M.tuberculosis chaperone like protein GroEL-2 by a serine hydrolase Hip1 found in its own cell envelope. This cleavage of GroEL-2 protein converts it from multimeric to monomeric form and causes dampening of host-proinflammatory responses by preventing the activation of macrophages. Due to this , M.tuberculosis progresses its infection spread in the cell and also gets saved from detection by the host immune system. Therefore Hip1 acts a novel regulatory element that helps M.tuberculosis to adapt to the new host environment and spread infection by evading host immune detection. This finding makes Hip1 as a potent target for making drugs against M.tuberculosis because a drug that can inhibit the proteolysis of GroEL-2 by Hip1 will eventually lead to immune detection and then death of M.tuberculosis.
Hope it helps, GOOD LUCK !!!!
