Explanation / Answer

Tuning fork A:

Wavelengh of sound = 2 * (L2-L1) = 2*(525.3) = 1050.6 cm

error in wavelength delta_lambda = 2(0.1+0.1) = 0.4 cm

Speed of sound = Lambda * f = 480 * 1050.6 = 504.2 m/s

Error in speed delta _v = (delta_lambda * f)

                                 = 0.4cm * 480 =1.92 m/s

Tuning fork B:

wavelenth = 2 * (10) = 20 cm =0.2 m

Error in wavelenth = 2*(0.1+0.1) = 0.4 cm

speed of sound = 0.2 * 2048 = 409.6 m/s

Error in speed = 0.4 cm * 2048 = 8.1 m/s

average speed V _avg = 456.9 m/s

Error in speed measurement delta_V avg = 5 m/s

fractional discrepancy from theoritical sppeed of sound = (456.9 - 345.3)/345.3*100 = 32.3%
