The first question is a ranking task. You must both provide the ranking and explain your rationale for your ranking. Although a picture may be sufficient, you must make certain that your reasoning is obvious either through pictures and/or words. There is no partial credit for the ranking task. The three figures to right show the interference pattern from three double slit experiments conducted with the same double slit setup, but three different frequencies of light. The center line of the pattern is indicated by the dashed line and the 'x' on each figure is at the center of the m = 2 maximum. Rank the three experiments by the frequency of light used to create the interference pattern. Rank the three experiments by Delta Phi, the total phase difference between the waves emanating from the two slits at the 'x' in each experiment.Explanation / Answer
