Question
e22.4 Two pairs of independently segregating genes with two alleles each, A/a and B/b. determine plant height ad- ditively in a population. The homozygote AA BB is 50 cm at tall, and the homozygote aa bb is 30 cm tall. a. What is your prediction of the Fi height in a cross be- cross ents, the as tween the two homozygous stocks? b. What genotypes in the Fa will show a height of 40 cm 324 and t 3.241 contir after an Fi × F1 cross? c. What will be the F2 frequency of the 40-cm plants? d. What assumptions have you made in answering this question? 22.11Explanation / Answer
A)
Cross in between
AABB×aabb= F1 genotype (AaBb)
As we know capital allele determines height
So by this each capital allele confer height= 50-30/4= 5cm
AaBb have two capital allele by this we can calculate
30(shortest height by allele)+5(capital allele)×2= 40 cm
B)
When two capital allele present they all show height of 40 cm
And in F2 (AaBb,AAbb,aaBB) these progeny have two capital allele and they show height of 40 cm
C)
In F2 progeny ratio is =
1/16(AAbb)
4/16(AaBb)
1/16(aaBB)
They all have two capital allele and height of 40 cm
By this ratio frequency is 1/16 + 4/16 + 1/16 = 6/16 = 3/8
By this 3/8 of the progeny have 40 cm height
D)
Assumption is taken that A and B loci assort independently and each allele have equal contribution in phenotype
