Question
Which has the greater centripetal force, a 200g object or a 400g object with the same same rotational velocity and radius? Calculate its centripetal force. The objects have a radius of 13cm and a period of 3 seconds. The centripetal force is F=(4*pi*mr)/T^2 Which has the greater centripetal force, a 200g object or a 400g object with the same same rotational velocity and radius? Calculate its centripetal force. The objects have a radius of 13cm and a period of 3 seconds. The centripetal force is F=(4*pi*mr)/T^2Explanation / Answer
centripetal force = m*v^2/R
of V and R is same,
centrepetal force will be more for greater mass
so, 400g object will have greater centripetal force
--------------------------------------------------------------------
for m = 200 g = 0.2 Kg
F = (4*pi*mr)/T^2
= (4*pi*0.2*0.13)/3^2
= 0.036 N
for m = 400 g = 0.4 Kg
F = (4*pi*mr)/T^2
= (4*pi*0.4*0.13)/3^2
= 0.073 N
