Several days into her course of medication, she began to experience peculiar symptoms. At first, they were hardly noticeable. Very quickly, however, they worsened and became embarrassing and unbearable. She noticed a white coating on her tongue, bad breath, and an awful taste in her mouth. Despite persistent brushing and mouthwash applications, she was unable to completely remove the film. Furthermore, she had excessive vaginal discharges consisting of a cheeselike white substance. When she began to have vaginal itching, she finally decided it was time to seek help. Reluctantly, she revisited her personal physician and described the symptoms. Her doctor explained the symptoms and provided additional prescriptions to alleviate her distress. What happened to the young woman in this situation? How had her body’s defenses been violated? How can she avoid a repeat of this situation?

The woman reported urinary tract infection and she was prescribed with antibiotics. After several days of her course , she began to have symptoms like bad breath, white coating on tongue ,vaginal discharge , itching etc.. All these symptoms are due to the removal of normal flora from its niche in the body. Due to the prolonged use of antibiotics her normal flora became enable to grow. these flora gain nutrients from its niche and provide protecion against diseases caused by other bacteria. These normal flora acts as a body's defense against inections. When these normal flora began to subside in its amounts in the body the bacteria that gained resistance by the antibiotic treatment started to cause infection. That is why she has got serie of infection. She can overcome these type of infections by just using the antibiotics as prescribed (2 or 3 days). Prolonged use of antibiotics causes such recurrent and prolonged infections.
