a) The work done by the gas is,
dW = P dV
where dW is work done, P is Pressure applied and dV is change in Volume produced.
So, dW = 2.25x10^5 x (1.64 - 1.16)
= 108000 Joules.
(The work done is positive, as it involves compression, and work is done on the system)

b) By first law of Thermodynamics, dU = dQ - dW
Then, as the question says, dU = -1.33x10^5 J (Neagtive, as energy decreases.)
and we calculated work done, dW = 108000 J
then, dQ, which is heat transferred, is, dQ = dU + dW
= 25000 Joules.

c) Heat is transferred into the system, that is, the gas becomes hot. This is mathematically shown by the positive value of heat obtained in the previous calculation.
