Photoautotrophs are those organisms which can synthesize organic compounds from carbondioxide and water drawing energy from sunlight by the process of photosynthesis. These are important to biosphere as they are the first step of almost every food chain and provide nutrition to all the heterotrophes (directly to herbivores and indirectly to carnivores)
