Sketch the basic structure of a non-enveloped and enveloped virus and label th parts. 4. Define the word "tropism" and explain how a virus like polio can be transmitted by food or water, but cause disease in the nervous system. 5. What is the "envelope" of a viral envelope? Where does it come from and what features are uniquely viral? 6. List 5 phases in the multiplication cycle of a viral infection. Explanation / Answer

2.It is known that all organisms having DNA undergo process of transcription to form RNA,and presence of both RNA and DNA in a cell or microbe is not uncommon. But in case of viruses which are non living outside the body of its host and undergo biological processes only in the host, they contain only one genetic material, which they transfer into the host and in the host machinery itself it undergoes further replication, transcription or translation. So,it cannot be a virus found with both RNA and DNA.
