Question

 1) The mechanical energy of an object of mass 10 kg is dropped from a height of 100 m is 9,800 J.
 a) At a time of his fall the object of 10 kg mass has a potential energy of 800 J , as is its kinetic energy ? b ) To the object height is 10 kg when its potential energy is 800 J ? c ) How is the kinetic energy of the object when it is 100 meters high ?
 d ) After impact the ground that you think the mechanical energy of the object is transformed if it no longer moves or speed is zero and its position is zero too? Remember that energy is neither created nor destroyed only transformed

Explanation / Answer

a) Apply Conservation of energy

Total energy = potentail energy + kinetic energy

9800 = 800 + KE

==> KE = 9800 - 800

= 9000 J

b) m*g*H = 800

H = 800/(m*g)

= 800/(10*9.8)

= 8.163 m

c) KE = 0(since initial velocity is zero)

D) The energy is converted into thermal energy
