You find a 9 ft-long, 30-lb board behind your friend’s garage. You place this board perpendicular to the edge of the pool so that 1/3 of it extends out over the water. To hold down the rear end of the board (the part that sits on the level ground next to the pool), you will place 80 lbs of weights (that you also found behind the garage) on the back edge. As you are working, you begin to wonder about the design. mass of person m2 = 190 lb

mass of the load = m3 = 80 lbs

In equilibrium net torque = 0

m3*g*(2/3)*l = m1*g*(2l/3 - l/2) + m3*g*x

l = 9


80*6 = (30*(6-4.5)) + (190*x)
