Although some fungi cause disease in humans others are beneficial and make a good portion of microorganisms that are used in nature and by man .

1. Fungi make symbiotic relationships with plants and help them to procure nutritions for growth and development of plants. Example: mycorrhizae

2. Some, fungi naturally produce anti-bacterials which are harvested by the humans to produce majored antibiotics used today. Example: penicillin, streptomycin

3. Similarly some fungi produce anti-tumour agents like the drug lentinan

4 Some fungi are used in industries for procurement of enzymes like lipase etc.

5. Others are edible like mushrooms and Shiitakes are good sources of vitamin D2.
