o 5/4/2016 11:00 AM A Time Remaining: 58 M 7 S Gradebook Question 2 of 8 Map sapling learning this question was written by Sean Cordry at Walters State Community College Tina is looking out a window and throws marble straight downward toward the sidewalk below at a speed of 4.00 m/s and the window is 39.0 meters above the sidewalk Answer the two questions below, using three significant digits. Part A What is the speed of the ball (Vf) when it hits the ground? Number m/ s (Remember: enter a magnitude.) Part B: After 1.90 s, how far down has the marble travelled? Number m (Enter distance as a positive value.) Previous Next Save And ExitExplanation / Answer
Part a) Here, V2 - U2 = 2gH
=> Vf2 = 2 * 9.8 *39 + 42
=> Vf = 27.935 m/sec --------------> speed of ball when it hits the ground .
Part b) Here, S = ut + 1/2 * gt2
=> S = 4 * 1.90 + 1/2 * 9.8 * 1.902
= 25.289 m
=> far down marble travelled = 25.289 m
