Question
Need some calculations for the bulk material flow from the top inlet inside a hopper, the iron ore traveling at a flow speed, iron ore materials shears stress against inside walls of hopper. What is the shear stress along the vertical wall (friction along the verticle walls) stupulate own figures for calculations. The verticle walls failure due to friction of iron ore.
I need to know the calculation solution process.
Need to know the calculation for wear plate failure from brand new to worn out/not usable. is it shear stress or .............
Thanks Craig
Explanation / Answer
If velocity gradient = (4000 m/sec)/(100 m)
= 40 sec-1
viscosity = 0.58 Pa-sec
=> shear stress along the vertical wall = viscosity * velocity gradient
= 0.58 * 40
= 23.2 Pa
