Question

A loop of wire has a radius of 0.025m. The loop carries a current of 800,000A. A singly charged particle is moving with a constant speed of 3.0 x 10^3 m/s in a circle of radius 5.0x10^-6m at the center of the loop. The plane of the circle is perpendicular to the magnetic field. 1)What is the magnitude of the magnetic force at the center of the loop?____ T 2) What is the magnitude of the magnetic force on the particle?__ N 3) What is the magnitude of the acceleration of the particle? ___m/s^2 4)What is the mass of the particle?___kg

Please explain some along with the work :)

Explanation / Answer

1) we know, B = uoi/2r = 2pi *10^-7*800000/0.025

= 20.106 T

2) F = qvB = 1.6*10^-19*3000* 20.106

= 9.65*10^-15 N

3) a= v^2/r = 3000^2/(5.0x10^-6)

= 1.8*10^12 m/s^2

4) m = F/a = 9.65*10^-15 N/( 1.8*10^12 m/s^2)

= 5.361 × 10-27 kg
