please help me with these following questions
1. A particle with charge 2.15C and mass 3.2*10-11 kg is initially traveling in the +y -direction with a speed v0=1.45*105m/s. It perpendicularly enters a region containing a uniform magnetic field B = 0.42T which extends a distance of 25cm along the y direction. As figure, the length of field free region is 50cm. (a) Determine the radius R of the curved path of the path. (b) Determine the time of particle spends in the magnetic field. (c)Determine x1, the horizontal deflection at the point exit from the field. (d)Determine x, the total horizontal deflection.

2. A constant current I flows through a metal rod of length l and mass m that slides on frictionless rails, as figure. A uniform magnetic field B is directed into the page. If the initial speed of rod is v0, find (a) the speed as a function of time; (b) the distance moved before coming to stop.

3. The ends of a semicircular loop carrying I are connected to three wires that lie along the sides of a square, as figure. What is the field at the center of the circular section?

4. An infinitely long thin metal plate of width w carries a current I, as figure. By dividing the plate into infinitesimal strips and using the result for the field due to an infinite wire, show that the magnetic field at point P is Bp = u0I/(pi w) tan-1[w/(2D)]

5. A wire is formed into the shape of a square of edge length L, as figure. Show that when the current in the loop is I, the magnetic field at point P a distance x from the center of the square along its axis is B = u0IL2/[2pi(x2+L2/4)( x2+L2/2)1/2]

Explanation / Answer

magnetic force will be perpendiculr to the direction of velocity.

hence particle will move in circular path

so magnetic force = centripetal force

q v B = m v^2 / R

R = m v / q B = (3.2 x 10^-11 x 1.45 x 10^5) / (2.15 x 10^-6 x 0.42)

R = 5.14 m
