1. IFN-gamma has been used to treat MS patients. IFN-gamma is secreted by activated immune cells, and is a hallmark of TH1 mediated inflammation and autoimmunity. IFN gamma has been shown to have opposing roles (inhibit versus promote) the progression of MS depending on the stage of the disease. 2. Why would feeding mice with MBP before immunization with MBP protect against the development of EAE?
Explanation / Answer
1)I think IFN-gamma treatments could make the progression of MS worse, and not better because it affects the various other parts of the body as gamma rays pose a lot of problems like nausea and headache and other symptoms which can make the health worse .It can also cause skins problems and allergy.
2) Feeding mice with MBP before immunization with MBP protect against the development of EAE as it kills the virus instantly which ensures the the EAE virus is killed instantly and doesnt grow
