Question
I need the solution for this problem as soon as possible please
Four charged particles are at the corners of a square of side a as shown in the figure below. (Let A = 3, B = 4, and C = 8.) Determine the electric field at the location of charge q. (Use the following as necessary: q, a, and k_e.) magnitude direction degree (counterclockwise from the +x-axis) Determine the total electric force exerted on q. (Use the following as necessary: q, a, and k_e.) magnitude direction degree (counterclockwise from the +x-axis)Explanation / Answer
a) EA = k*A*q/a^2 = 3*k*q/a^2
EB = k*B*q/(2*a^2) = 2*k*q/a^2
EC = k*C*q/a^2 = 8*k*q/a^2
Ex = EA + EB*cos(45)
= 3*k*q/a^2 + 2*k*q/a^2 *cos(45)
= 4.414*k*q/a^2
Ey = EC + EB*sin(45)
= 8*k*q/a^2 + 2*k*q/a^2 *sin(45)
= 9.414*k*q/a^2
Enet = sqrt(Ex^2 + Ey^2)
= 10.39*k*q/a^2
direction, theta = tan^-1(Ey/Ex)
= tan^-1(9.4147/4.414)
= 64.87 degrees with +x axis in counter clockwise direction
b) Fnet = q*Enet = 10.39*k*q/a^2
direction same as Enet i.e 64.87 degrees
