Question
Explain why part B is incorrect
A car travels due cost with a speed of 40.0 km/h. Raindrops are falling at a constant speed vertically with respect to the Earth. The traces of the rain on the side windows of the car make an angle of 64.0 degree with the vertical. Find the velocity of the rain with respect to the following reference frames. the car km/h downward and west of vertical the Earth Sketch a diagram illustrating how the velocity vector of me car combines with the velocity vector of the falling rain in one frame to give the velocity n the other frame. Then use trigonometry to find the two unknown velocities, km/h vertically downward.Explanation / Answer
b)
since rain is falling vertiaclly downward
let its velocity is Vr
velocity of car is 40
giventhat it is making 64 degree with vertical
so
tan 64 = 40/Vr
Vr = 40/tan64
Vr = 19.51 km/hr
