Question
Three resistors arc connected in series across a D-cell battery, as shown in the diagram. Calculate the following quantities. a. The total resistance, R_eq. b. The total current provided by the battery. c. The current through each resistor. d. The potential difference across each resistor. Three resistors arc connected in parallel across a D-cell battery, as shown in the diagram. Calculate the following quantities. a. The total resistance, R_eq. b. The potential difference across each resistor. c. The total current provided by the battery. d. The current through each resistor.Explanation / Answer
As you asked multiple questions , so i am bound to answer first one.
3.(a)
Rtotal = 200 + 100 + 300 = 600 ohm
(b)
I = V / R = 1.5 / 600
I = 0.0025 A
(c)
since it is a series cobination , so current will be equal in all resistors.
ieach = 0.0025 A
(d)
voltage across 200 ohm,
V1 = i*R = 0.0025*200 = 0.5 V
voltage across 100 ohm,
V2 = 0.0025*100 = 0.25 V
voltage across 300 ohm,
V3 = 0.0025*300 = 0.75 V
