Question
400-500 words max
discuss what this video teaches us about the greenhouse effect. You can find a copy of the video using the link below Why does the scientist’s face disappear on the infrared camera when the tube fills up with CO2? Based on this demonstration, how do you expect CO2 to interact with infrared radiation in the Earth’s atmosphere? More broadly, what does this demonstration show us about the greenhouse effect in the Earth’s atmosphere? For this last question, it might help to think about where infrared radiation found in the Earth’s atmosphere and which direction it is, on average, propagating.

Explanation / Answer
The video shows a clear example of the property of CO2 which it absorbs the heat radiation, thats the infrared waves from any source and as the heat waves are absorbed the CO2 becomes hotter. We all know that greenhouse effect is the process by which heating of atomsphere causes the global temperature rise. As the role of CO2 is shown in this video absorbing heat waves hence this video teaches us that the reason for the greenhouse effect is the increasing percentage of CO2 in the atmosphere produced by anthropogenic activities.
Scientist's face disappear on the infrared camera because the camera was sensing the heat comming from scientist's face but it was absorbed by the co2 which was filled in the tube hence the camrea unable to detct the heat signal.
CO2 in the atmosphere must be absorbing the infrared waves comming from the sun in the atmosphere and causing global warming.
the demonstration shows that the rising of the temperature globally is due to the increasing co2 gas in the atmosphere. the infrared radiation fround on earths atmosphere is coming mainly from sun and very few from the earths cooling. the general direction of propagation is towards earths surface but as some of them are reflected back to space by ozone layer hence few radiation are directed away from the surface of the earth.
