Question
Eight identical bulbs are connected in series across a 120-V line.
Part A
What is the voltage across each bulb?
Express your answer to two significant figures and include the appropriate units.
V=?
Part B
If the current is 0.56 A , what is the resistance of each bulb?
Express your answer to two significant figures and include the appropriate units.
R=?
Part C
If the current is 0.56 A , what is the power dissipated in each bulb?
Express your answer to two significant figures and include the appropriate units.
P=?
Explanation / Answer
here 8 bulbs which are identical are connected in series
V = 120 volt
(a) there is identical bulbs so voltage across each bulbs are equal
so the voltage across each bulb V = 120 / 8 = 15 volt
(b) if current I = 0.56 Amp
so as we know that the current will same in series combination
so the current in each bulb is 0.56 Amp
so the resistance of each bulb R = V / I
R = 15 / 0.56 = 26.785 ohm Ans
(c) if the current I = 0.56 Amp
so the power dissipited in each bulb is same which is given by
P = V x I
= 15 x 0.56 = 8.4 J Ans
